Making Product Pop

Creating animated content for Kenneth Cole’s Holiday Instagram Campaign

2015

During my internship with Kenneth Cole Productions, I helped bring animation to the brand’s Instagram through a series of custom GIFs. These short animations were designed to spotlight seasonal product drops and elevate the brand’s visual storytelling for the busiest retail season of the year.

The Challenge
The goal was to create quick, eye-catching GIFs that featured key holiday items and could be easily integrated into Kenneth Cole’s Instagram grid and stories. The challenge? Make static product shots feel dynamic and on-brand — without overcomplicating production.

My Role & What I Created
As a design intern, I:

  • Layered type and product imagery to create looping animations.

  • Ensured each GIF was optimized for social and stayed within Kenneth Cole’s brand aesthetic.

  • Worked under fast turnaround timelines to align with the retail calendar.

Tools Used

  • Adobe Photoshop (for image editing and frame animation)

The Outcome
The final GIFs were shared across the brand’s Instagram during the holiday campaign, contributing to a cohesive seasonal look and boosting product visibility during a critical sales window.

Design Note
This project was where I learned the importance of movement in design. How just a few frames could completely transform a product shot into something more engaging felt like a little bit of creative magic and reminded me how even small moments of delight can make a big impact.
